Two more teams lose undefeated status
Rattlers and La Joya assume top spots, Tigers and San Benito fall

McALLEN, Texas - Nothing is a given in the South Texas Premier Soccer Association Summer League, and much less the top spot of the standings after two more previously undefeated teams lost their first matches of the season and the Rattlers reclaimed first place in the league standings.

The Tigers (2-1-1, 7 points) fell victim to a revitalized España squad 1-0, and relinquished the league’s top spot. Meanwhile, San Benito was defeated by La Joya and lost their undefeated status.

España (2-0-2, 6) evened its record on a tally by Ángel Quintero in just the third minute of play in the second half of the match. The win got España back into the fight for the inaugural Summer League title.

With just 10 players, La Joya (2-1-0, 7) held on to their undefeated record for another week and took over second place with a 5-1 victory over San Benito (2-1-1, 7), who lost for the first time this season.

In one of the hardest fought matches of the week, Indios (1-1-0, 4) managed to walk away with a 1-1 draw against Mission (2-1-1, 7) after Saúl Guerrero equalized the match in the fourth minute of the second half.

Indios and La Joya are the last undefeated teams in the league.

After the fourth week of Summer League play, the, Rattlers (3-0-1, 9) recouped first place and La Joya jumped into the second place spot of the league standings.

In the goal-scoring category, the Rattlers’ Luis Gómez still holds the lead with three goals.
