McALLEN, Texas - The South Texas Premier Soccer Association’s inaugural 18-and-Under Summer League will kick off on May 21 with the participation of 10 teams from around the Rio Grande Valley.
The inaugural 18-and-Under season will consist of 10 teams from La Joya to San Benito and feature some of the Valley’s top youth players. The summer league will play a nine-game regular season and the top four teams at the end of the season will advance to the playoffs.
"The 18-and-Under league is unique because it focuses on high school-aged players that want to keep developing their talent over the summer," said STXPSA Board Member Miguel Puente. "The South Texas Premier Soccer Association started out in 2009 with the first Under-20 league in the Valley, and this is just one more step in the process to help the continued development of soccer talent in the area."
The 10 teams that will participate in the inaugural STXPSA 18-and-Under Summer League are: Tigers, La Joya, España, Mission, Potros, Gatos Negros, Hormigas, Rattlers, San Benito and Edcouch.
